Types of Skin Rashes



Skin is known as the integumentary system. It is also a body system just like gastrointestinal or cardiovascular. Skin is the defense of body's first line against disease. Skin is made up of three layers; the top layer is called epidermis, the middle layer is called dermis and the bottom layer is called subcutaneous tissue. Every person, at one time or another suffers from some kind of rashes. There are different causes for different kinds of rashes. Rashes may be caused by different things and many rashes are very distinguishing. Any red mark or spot which appears on the skin and which is often itchy is defined as a rash. Usually people develop rashes for varieties of reasons but the main reason of rash is allergy. It may be due to allergic reaction of something. It may be caused by ingesting anything of which that person is allergic or by direct contact. Rashes may be the symptoms of certain disease like chicken pox, scarlatina or measles.

Scaly, itchy types of skin rashes are caused by eczemas. Different types of skin rashes are caused by eczemas like atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis.

Bacteria and fungus causes scaly types of skin rashes. It simply means that the rash may be due to actual infection like in ringworm (fungus) or impetigo (bacteria).

Usually people catch fungal rashes at the gym, from pets and in other locations where a large number of pets and people might congregate.

Rashes are caused frequently due to allergies and viruses. Chicken pox, rubella and measles cause viral types of skin rashes. It causes generalized, itchy red inflamed bumps all over the body. You may visit to the doctor to get some relief as this itch may be intolerable.
