In pregnancy week 32, your little one weighs nearly 3.8 pounds and is 16.7 inches long. Your baby is still going to grow and develop in the next weeks prior to birth. Many but not all babies would have their heads engaged in their delivery position of head down, chin tucked into the chest and their buttocks up. Some babies in pregnancy week can be seen smiling and making faces. The face is now very round and cute.
At week 32, your little one sleeps most of the time, and that is for more than 90% of the time. The wrinkles that were present earlier due to the lack of fat are fast disappearing, as your baby is putting on layers of fat under the skin. That is why the weight added in around 6 weeks has more than doubled. The skin too has become thicker and so less blood is seen through it now, and therefore your little one does not have the red complexion that was present earlier.
Your little one is continuing to grow sturdy and strong for the upcoming delivery. Your baby will put on nearly another half pound this week. Your baby now has smooth nails in both the toes and feet. By pregnancy week 32, your blood volume would have increased by 50% compared to the volume before pregnancy. In this period, you would have gained a pound. In fact each week in the third trimester you will gain a pound each week. All this is in support of your baby's growth and development until delivery.
The pelvis is preparing for labor and you will find that your hips are getting wider as your ligaments in that area continue to stretch. Your center of gravity also keeps shifting, and as a result you may feel some sharp pain shooting down your back and buttocks in pregnancy week 32. Be careful when walking to avoid any slipping or falling.
In pregnancy week 32, your fundus is around 5" above your navel, and you'll find that you are large. As a result of the greater pressure you may feel more uncomfortable and suffer from heartburn. If you are carrying twins, your abdomen by now will be as big as a woman carrying one fetus in their 40th week.
As in other weeks, you must eat foods with a lot of fiber and drink a lot of water, which is from a minimum of 8 glasses to 10 glasses. This is to prevent constipation, which may give rise to hemorrhoids at the opening of the rectum.
Get yourself mentally prepared for delivery from this pregnancy week 32 onwards. Be informed of the choices you have for delivery. Nowadays there are many who are opting for caesar, but other times a caesar is planned for the well-being of the baby or the mother. Ask your doctor questions on whatever delivery that you or your doctor chooses. Sometimes you are given the choice on the type of delivery that you want, and sometimes the doctor has chosen the type of delivery, on account of certain complications. The more information you have of the delivery process, the more confident you will be.
